WHY YOU’RE GOING TO LOVE THIS RECIPE

  • Easy recipe – magic slice takes just 10 minutes to prepare and whilst it looks impressive, to make it you just need to mix, layer, pour and bake!
  • 7 ingredients – you need just 7 ingredients to make this slice, many of which are often found in the same aisle of the supermarket!
  • Perfect for bake sales – magic slice is always popular at fetes, fundraisers and parties!
  • Freezer-friendly – like my other freezer friendly slices, this condensed milk slice is so useful to freeze for last minute ‘grab n go’ treats.

WHAT YOU NEED

Just 7 easy to find ingredients to make this coconut condensed milk layer slice!

  • Baking Tin
  • Oven

  • Sprinkle over the chocolate chips, followed by the coconut, dried cranberries and almonds.
  • Pour the sweetened condensed milk over the top.
  • Bake for 30 minutes or until golden.Allow to cool in the tin before chilling in the fridge until firm.Use a sharp serrated knife to cut the slice into pieces.

Notes

RECIPE NOTES & TIPS

  • Line your baking tin – line your baking tin with baking paper to prevent the slice from sticking to the tin and allow for easy removal.
  • If you notice that the slice is browning too quickly – place a sheet of foil loosely over the top and continue baking.
  • If you’d like a thinner slice – use an 18cm x 28cm (7″ x 11″) slice tin (personally I like the thicker base from using a smaller square tin!)

  • Chill in the fridge until firm – this will help to cut the slice neatly. If you try to cut the slice whilst warm it can get a little messy. Have a look at my how to cut perfect slices post for more hints and tips on cutting a slice neatly.
  • Storage – store magic slice in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week or freeze for 1 month.
  • Mix and match ingredients – you can substitute the cranberries and slivered almonds for other dried fruit or nuts if you like.Swap the almonds for macadamia’s or pecans, even walnuts or unsalted peanuts would work well here too. Sultanas, currants or chopped dried apricots could be substituted for the cranberries!
